Box Full Of Kisses

“What are you doing with that roll of gold wrapping paper?” screamed the father at his 3 year old daughter. He was tired after putting in extra hours on Christmas eve so he could earn a little extra. Money was tight and even a roll of gold wrapping paper meant money.

“Daddy, I’m wrapping…” the young girl, sitting under the Christmas tree and holding a half decorated box, started to explain.

“I don’t care what you’re doing! You’re wasting those wrapping papers. Go to your bed now!”

“But daddy…”

“Go!”

With tearful eyes, the little girl went to her bed.

Early next morning, the father was woken up by his daughter.

“Merry Christmas, daddy. This is for you,” the little girl held up a half-finished gift box, beaming, totally forgot about the incident the night before.

The man now felt embarrassed of his earlier overreaction. But his embarrassment soon turned into anger again when he found out the box was empty.

He yelled at his daughter, “Don’t you know, when you give someone a present, there is supposed to be something inside?”

The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and cried, “Oh, daddy, it’s not empty at all. I blew kisses into the box. They’re all for you, daddy.”

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and wept.
