Ice Cream
It was a hot summer day and 6 year old Jerry was holding a triple scoops of vanilla ice cream. To the little boy, having the ice cream melting in his mouth was the best thing ever. It felt so cooling and nothing else tasted better.
Jerry was happily skipping along, enjoying the ice cream, until he suddenly tripped on a stone. He almost fell but managed to steady himself. Unfortunately, he dropped the ice cream on the floor. He was so upset he didn’t even cry. He just stared blankly at the ice cream on the floor.
An old lady was passing by and saw the incident. She walked up to Jerry and said, “What a pity. But don’t worry. Take off your shoes and socks and I’ll show you something interesting.”
Jerry looked up at the old lady, blinking his eyes, didn’t know what to think at first. Then he started to take off his shoes and socks like the old lady told him.
“Now my dear boy,” the old lady continued, seeing that she caught Jerry’s attention, “go step on the ice cream. Stomp on it. Feel the ice cream oozing out between your toes.”
Jerry was kind of bewildered by what he heard. Then, slowly, he put one foot on the ice cream. In no time, he was laughing and dancing around on the spilled ice cream.
The old lady was laughing heartily too. “I bet you that no other boys around here ever had ice cream oozing through their toes. Now go home and tell your mom what a wonderful experience you just had.”
Just as Jerry bade goodbye, the old lady told him, “Remember now boy. No matter how bad things look, you can always find a bright side to it.”
