August 11th, 2008

This is the gratitude dance. Be grateful and have some fun.

Every morning when you wake up, follow this three step process:

#1. Write down what you’re grateful for at that moment.
#2. Watch the Video
#3. DO THE DANCE!

Spread the dance to everyone you know and care about.

I’m so happy and grateful for…

This Is Good

July 19th, 2008

A king in Africa had a close friend with whom he grew up. The friend had a habit of looking at every situation that ever occurred in his life, whether positive or negative, and remarking, “This is good!”

One day the king and his friend were out on a hunting expedition. The friend would load and prepare the guns for the king. The friend had apparently done something wrong in preparing one of the guns. For after taking the gun from his friend, the king fired it and his thumb was blown off.

Robotic Treadmill Helps Once-Paralyzed Woman Walk on Her Own Again

May 23rd, 2008

A woman who was paralyzed after breaking her neck in a trampoline accident has regained the ability to walk using a robotic treadmill-like device, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail.

Jeanette Sykes, 39, broke her neck while jumping on a trampoline at a friend’s barbecue in July 2006. She was told she would be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life, according to the report.

After five months of rehabilitation at the Spinal Injuries Center at Pinderfields Hospital in West Yorkshire, England, doctors decided to try a new piece of equipment it was testing on her called the Lokomat.

Fence And Nails

May 17th, 2008

Tom was a 9-year old boy. He had a temper so bad that even boys much older than him were afraid of him.

Tom’s father was very concerned. He kept thinking of how to help Tom correct his behavior. One day, he gave Tom a bag of nails.

“What’s the nails for?” Tom asked in puzzlement.

“Son, let’s play a little game,” his father said. “From now on, every time you lose your temper, go hammer a nail in the back fence.”

“Oh, a game!” Tom was delighted that his dad wanted to play with him and took the bag of nails happily.

Does “Counting Your Blessings” Really Help?

May 16th, 2008

How often do you take time to reflect on the things you’re grateful for? Once a month? Once a week, at church, perhaps? Maybe you say “grace” at mealtime every day. But even prayers that do express gratefulness, such as a traditional mealtime prayer, are often expressed by rote. Growing up, my family wasn’t very religious, but when we had dinner with family or friends, we’d usually say grace. I was probably well into my teens before I understood what “blessusolordforthesethygiftswhichweareabouttoreceivefromthybounty” actually meant.

The Woman In The Glass

May 11th, 2008

When you get what you want as your struggle for self
And the world makes you queen for a day,
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that woman has to say.

For it isn’t your father or mother or husband
Who’s judgement upon you must pass;
The person whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.

She’s the person to please, never mind all the rest,
For she’s with you clear up to the end.
And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the woman in the glass if your friend.

Gratitude Is

May 9th, 2008

Gratitude is

appreciation for people, places, and things, as well as,

for ideas, qualities, and feelings

Gratitude is

thankfulness, and I use it like a key

A key to inspire strangers, my friends, and me

A key to life that sets me free

A key to heal insult and injury

A key to awareness, when I refuse to dream

A key to finding forgiveness and feeling peace

A key to manifest my desires, what I want, and who I want to be

A key to light the dark times, when I can’t see

Age

April 29th, 2008

[As received in an email]

George Carlin on age.
(Absolutely Brilliant)

IF YOU DON’T READ THIS TO THE VERY END, YOU HAVE LOST A DAY IN YOUR LIFE. AND WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED, DO AS I AM DOING AND SEND IT ON.

George Carlin’s Views on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we’re kids? If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

Good Friend

April 28th, 2008

A good friend can tell you what is the matter with you in a minute.

He may not seem such a good friend after telling.
